LAWRENCE ALUMNA RECEIVES STATEWIDE RECOGNITION CANTON, NY - One of St. Lawrence University's most distinguished alumnae is receiving new recognition this week in the legislative halls in Albany. Dr. Tracey S. McNamara, who received the Bachelor of Science degree from St. Lawrence University in 1976, is among an "inaugural class" of 14 graduates from some of New York's independent colleges and universities who have been selected for the Independent Sector's Alumni Hall of Distinction. A display of photographs and career-descriptive profiles is to be on display March 6, 7 and 8 in the Legislative Office Building adjacent to the State Capitol. McNamara, who holds a degree in veterinary medicine from Cornell University, occupies leading positions at the Bronx Zoo as chairman of zoo and wildlife pathology, and has been prominent in identifying causes for various infestations that have threatened both animals and humankind. St. Lawrence University will award McNamara an honorary degree at Commencement ceremonies in May 2000. "This means of recognizing outstanding service, personally and professionally, to their respective communities and to the quality of life in our state, was established to focus attention on our stellar alumni and their contributions to New York," said James C. Ross, president of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities, which is sponsoring the recognition and the special display. The graduates were nominated for the distinction by their alma maters. In addition to Dr. McNamara, St. Lawrence University claims another honoree in Trustee J.
