A List 9/22/03 CHIAPAS MEDIA PROJECT VIDEO, DISCUSSION SET AT SLU CANTON – A video screening and discussion by the Chiapas Media Project, a group of indigenous video-makers from the states of Chiapas and Guerrero, Mexico, will be presented at St. Lawrence University on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Hepburn Hall (Room 218). The event, open to the public, free of charge, is part of the University's celebration of Latino/a and Hispanic heritage. The Chiapas Media Project is a bi-national partnership that provides video equipment, computers and training enabling marginalized indigenous and campesino communities in Southern Mexico to create their own media. The CMP has presented videos at numerous universities, museums and film and video festivals around the world, along with discussion of the political context in which the videos are made.
