CHIAPAS MEDIA PROJECT VIDEO, DISCUSSION SET AT SLU

CANTON – A video screening and discussion by the Chiapas Media Project, a
group of indigenous video-makers from the states of Chiapas and Guerrero,
Mexico, will be presented at St. Lawrence University on Friday, October 3, at
7 p.m. in the auditorium of Hepburn Hall (Room 218). The event, open to the
public, free of charge, is part of the University's celebration of Latino/a
and Hispanic heritage.
The Chiapas Media Project is a bi-national partnership that provides
video equipment, computers and training enabling marginalized indigenous and
campesino communities in Southern Mexico to create their own media. The CMP
has presented videos at numerous universities, museums and film and video
festivals around the world, along with discussion of the political context
in which the videos are made.
