SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST TO GIVE TALK AT SLU

CANTON -- Jay Cerio, director of the Alfred University Child and 
Family Services Center and Center for Rural School Psychology, will 
give a talk at St. Lawrence University on Wednesday, November 29, 
on "Professional Psychology in the Schools: School Psychology in 
Theory and Practice."
	His talk will be at 4:30 p.m. in Bloomer Auditorium, Brown 
Hall, and is open to the public, free of charge.
	Author of the book Play Therapy: A Do-It-Yourself Guide for 
Practitioners, Cerio is a graduate of Syracuse University, with a 
master's degree in school counseling from St. Lawrence and the Ph.D. 
from Boston University. He also has a private practice in counseling 
children and families.
	Topics covered in his talk will include the differences between 
clinical, counseling and school psychology; the model of the 
scientist/practitioner; how different school settings and changes in 
state regulations influence school psychologists' roles; how training 
programs differ; and what school psychologists actually do.
