New York Times Media Columnist To Speak At St. Lawrence

CANTON - Brian Stelter, media reporter for the New York Times and lead contributor to the paper's "Media Decoder" blog, will give a talk at St. Lawrence University called "The Facebook Generation: A Status Update?" on Tuesday, September 20, at 7 p.m. in the Winston Room of the Sullivan Student Center. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

Stelter joined the staff of the Times in 2007 as a Business Day reporter covering media. While a student at Towson University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mass communication, Stelter launched the media industry blog CableNewser, later renamed TVNewser. The blog was purchased by Mediabistro, and Stelter remained there as editor through 2007.

He appears in the 2011 documentary Page One, about the New York Times.
