Cowser Selected By SLU Senior Class As Top Prof
CANTON - St. Lawrence University Professor of English Bob Cowser Jr. is the recipient of this year's Owen D. Young Outstanding Faculty Award, as voted by members of the senior class. The award is the only one given to faculty that is chosen by students.
Dream Season, Cowser's first book, was a New York Times Book Review "Editor's Choice" and was listed among The Chronicle of Higher Education's best-ever books about sports. He is also the author of the memoir Scorekeeping and the 2010 true-crime memoir Green Fields: Crime, Punishment and a Boyhood Between. He is also the editor of the 2010 volume

Cowser earned a bachelor's degree from Loyola-New Orleans, a master's degree from Marquette University and the Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. He has taught in a number of creative writing programs and has also been the director of St. Lawrence's program of study in France. Next year, he will direct the University's program in London.
