ST. LAWRENCE BOATHOUSE IN WADDINGTON DEDICATED – St. Lawrence University's new
boathouse at the Waddington Town Beach was dedicated recently. The boathouse, for
use by the University's men's and women's crew teams, includes two boat bays to
house racing shells; locker rooms; kitchen; and indoor and outdoor common areas,
supporting the athletes that train and race there. The land, on the St. Lawrence
River, is owned by the New York Power Authority, which is leasing it to the
University; in addition to the new boathouse facility, a new floating dock has
also been constructed.

Special recognition was given at the dedication to Allan and Catherine Newell,
of Hammond, and Michael and Virginia Ranger, of Morristown, New Jersey, whose
gifts made possible the construction of the new facilities. Allan Newell and
Michael Ranger are University trustees. Those present for the dedication included,

Athletics Margaret Strait; New York Power Authority Senior Community Relations
Representative Carol Simpson; and University President Daniel F. Sullivan.
