My research is on African literature, particularly literature from Zimbabwe. I am interested in the political and cultural conditions which affect African writers and which they address in their work.

Senior theses on Virginia Woolf, Wole Soyinka, and Ngugi and Postcoloniality
Examples of presentations, exhibitions, performances and published work:
Nuruddin Farah, co-authored with Louis Tremaine. “Coming Unstuck: Masculine Identities in Post-Independence Zimbabwe”
Some ways I connect with students outside the classroom:
I enjoy talking with students as they plan for including study abroad in their academic careers and talking with them when they return.
Examples of my work as a visiting scholar or guest at another institution:
Fulbright Research Scholar at the University of Zimbabwe, 1990-91.
