My research interests:

I study glial-neuronal interactions in the brain. Most recently, I am examining the mechanisms that underlie brain injury following stroke using a mouse model. Using cerium oxide nanoparticles we can reduce the tissue damage in the brain following stroke approximately 50%. We are currently working with Clarkson University and Dartmouth Medical School to engineer new nanoparticles that more potent and biologically compatible.
