St. Lawrence Writers Series Begins Year With Bernard Cooper

CANTON - Award-winning memoirist, novelist and short-story writer Bernard Cooper will speak and read from recent work in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, February 21, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall. Part of the University's Writers Series, the event is open to the public, free of charge.
Cooper has written two collections of memoirs, Maps to Anywhere and Truth Serum, as well as a novel, A Year of Rhymes, and a collection of short stories, Guess Again. His work has appeared in numerous magazines and journals, as well as five volumes of The Best American Essays. Cooper is the author of The Bill From My Father: A Memoir and is currently completing a collection of essays under the working title My Avant Gard Education.
His numerous awards include the PEN/Ernest Hemingway Award, an O. Henry Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Cooper is a core faculty member in the MFA Writing Program at Bennington College.
