SERVICE PLANNED AT SLU FOR MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY

CANTON - Retired Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Bishop 
Richard O. Bass Sr. will be keynote speaker at St. Lawrence 
University's Martin Luther King Jr. Day service, on Monday, 
January 20, at 5 p.m. in Gunnison Memorial Chapel. This event 
begins a semester residency for Bishop Bass, who will also 
lead the weekly progressive, multi-racial Christian worship 
services planned for each Sunday at 5 p.m., also in Gunnison 
Memorial Chapel.
	The Martin Luther King Jr. Day service is open to the 
public, as are the Sunday worship services, which combine music 
and prayer in multicultural celebration. 
	Retired from active service with the Christian Methodist 
Episcopal Church, for which he served as bishop of the Fifth 
Episcopal District of the CME Church of Alabama and Florida, 
Reverend Bass has served parishes in South Carolina, North 
Carolina, Indiana, Texas, Kansas and California. He has been 
president of the Los Angeles branch of the NAACP and a chairman 
of the Board of Trustees of Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama.
