A List 4/17/00 PIANIST RANDALL ATCHESON TO PERFORM AT ST. LAWRENCE CANTON -- Musician Randall Atcheson will perform in concert at St. Lawrence University on Tuesday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Gulick Theatre. The event -- the inaugural performance sponsored by the Birdsong Endowment for Music -- is open to the public, free of charge. The only student in the history of the Juilliard School of Music ever allowed to pursue and receive simultaneous degrees in piano and organ performance, Atcheson won the Juilliard organ competition and gave the premiere performance on the new pipe organ at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. He has recorded 10 albums, featuring both classical music and his unique arrangements of sacred music. Atcheson made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1991; following that, he was added to the distinguished international roster of Steinway Artists. He played his fifth Carnegie Hall concert in the fall of 1999. The Birdsong Endowment for Music was established in 1999 through the generosity of Lynn '68 and Terry '69 Birdsong, of Greenwich, Connecticut, to bring visiting musicians or musical groups to campus to enhance music education. -30- Back To News Releases Back to St. Lawrence Homepage
