SLU PROFESSOR NAMED COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR

CANTON - Arthur J. Clark, associate professor of education at 
St. Lawrence University, has been named Counselor of the Year 
by the Northern Zone Counselors Association (NZCA).
	The NZCA is a professional association of counselors in 
St. Lawrence, Franklin, Lewis and Jefferson Counties and includes 
clergy, private-practice therapists, college admissions counselors, 
college counselors, public school guidance counselors, financial 
aid officers and military counselors. One member annually is selected 
to receive the award.
	Clark received the award for "tireless service to students 
at St. Lawrence University and the counseling profession in the 
North Country and beyond."
	A member of the St. Lawrence faculty since 1990, Clark is a 
graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, with a master's degree from 
Boston College and the Ed.D. from Oklahoma State University. He is 
the author of the 1998 book Defense Mechanisms in the Counseling 
Process.
