Economist To Talk About Wal-Mart In SLU Lecture

CANTON - Art Carden, assistant professor of economics at Rhodes College in Memphis, will give a talk titled "Waltonomics: Wal-Mart and Society" on Thursday, February 25, at 8 p.m. in the auditorium of Hepburn Hall at St. Lawrence University. The event, part of both the Contemporary Issues Forum and the economics department Visiting Speaker Series in Political Economy, is open to the public, free of charge.

In the talk, Carden will address a number of criticisms frequently leveled at Wal-Mart, and explore Wal-Mart's effects on a variety of economic and social indicators.

The Contemporary Issues Forum brings experts and participants in the making of news to campus throughout the academic year.
