ADVANCEMENT V.P. APPOINTED AT ST. LAWRENCE

CANTON - St. Lawrence University President Daniel F. Sullivan has
announced the appointment of Michael P. Archibald to the position
of vice president for University advancement, pending approval by
the Board of Trustees at its meeting on Saturday, February 9.
Archibald has been interim vice president since August
of 2001, when the late Linda Pettit left the vice presidency due
to disability. A graduate of Colby College, Archibald began at
St. Lawrence in 1991, as director of annual giving. While in that
position, for six years, annual gifts for current operating
purposes increased from $1.9 million in 1991 to $3.3 million in
1997, the year he became director of major gifts. In that role,
he has been an instrumental member of the team of staff, trustees
and other volunteers who have worked together to increase capital
and endowment gifts from $3 million in 1995-96 to $12.2 million
last year.
"I have full confidence that Mike Archibald has the
leadership skills and the understanding of the University's mission
and purposes to be a strong and effective contributing member of
the senior management team," President Sullivan commented in a
statement to the St. Lawrence community.
Archibald will be responsible for all institutional advancement
activities, including fund-raising, alumni relations and University
communications, including oversight of North Country Public Radio.
