SLU PROF CONNETT RECEIVES LEADERSHIP AWARD FROM ANTI-PESTICIDES GROUP

CANTON -- St. Lawrence University Professor of Chemistry Paul 
H. Connett received the Environmental Protector Leadership Award 
from Beyond Pesticides/National Coalition Against the Misuse of 
Pesticides (NCAMP) at their annual conference, held recently in 
New York City. Others cited by the organization for their efforts 
were environmentalists Barry Commoner and Lois Gibbs.
	The award states that it was given to Connett "for encouraging 
clear scientific thinking and inciting environmental activism."
	Beyond Pesticides/NCAMP began in 1981 as the National Coalition 
Against the Misuse of Pesticides, a non-profit membership organization 
that was formed to serve as a national network committed to pesticide 
safety and the adoption of alternative pest-management strategies which 
reduce or eliminate a dependency on toxic chemicals.
