André Couture Elected SLU Trustee
CANTON - Montreal businessman André Couture, a 1982 graduate of St. Lawrence University,
has been elected to the University's Board of Trustees, for a six-year term
beginning July 1. Couture is the chairman of Sanimax, an international company
that creates environmentally responsible solutions for the food and agribusiness industries.
Couture's St. Lawrence degree is in economics.
The company Sanimax was formed in a recent merger of the Montreal-based Sanimal
and the Wisconsin-based Anamax.
Sanimal, founded by the Couture family in 1939, is currently in its third
generation of ownership. Couture has held top leadership positions for more
than 20 years, and now, as chairman of Sanimax, is involved in the strategic
alignment of the new company and its shareholders.
In addition to volunteering as a career advisor to St. Lawrence students,
Couture has been active in fund-raising for the University.
