PERUVIAN FOLK MUSIC TO BE PERFORMED AT SLU

CANTON -- The Peruvian folk music ensemble Tahuantinsuyo will 
perform at St. Lawrence University on Friday, September 15, at 
8 p.m. in Gulick Theater, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. 
The event is open to the public, free of charge.
	Tahuantinsuyo, which means "the four parts of the world" in the 
Inca language Quechua, was formed in 1973 by Peruvian folk musician and 
teacher Guillermo Guerrero. The group is dedicated to the research and 
performance of traditional music from the Andean countries that once 
formed the Inca Empire -- Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and 
Colombia.
	They have given concerts and workshops in concert halls, universities, 
museums, schools and international folk festivals throughout the United 
States and Canada.
