Alumna Returns to Read from Award Winning Collection of Stories

St. Lawrence University alumna Tessa A. Mellas ’01 will return to campus to read from her award winning collection of short stories.

Recently, Mellas, who was an English writing and music major at St. Lawrence, was awarded the Iowa Short Fiction Award for her collection of 12 short stories in Lungs Full of Noise. (See the article in the Oct. 13 article in the Watertown Daily Times).

She will read from her award-winning collection of stories and discuss with audience members what it’s like to attempt to find work in the literary world.

Mellas’ visit is being sponsored by the student-run The Laurentian Magazine, which publishes St. Lawrence University student artwork, photography, fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry each semester and maintains a current blog.

The reading and presentation will take place from 7-8:30 p.m., Nov. 14 in Dean-Eaton Formal Lounge.
