SLU STUDENTS FORM TEAM FOR FUND-RAISING RIDE

CANTON -- Seven St. Lawrence University students will ride their
bicycles 575 miles over seven days this summer, as part of a fund-raising
event to benefit AIDS research.
	The students plan to participate in the Montana AIDS Vaccine
Ride, beginning July 30 in Missoula. Over seven days' time, riders will
travel 575 miles over the Continental Divide, to Billings. Dubbed the
"Cycling Saints," the students are at this point the only college team
participating in the event.
	Participants are Daniel J. O'Connor '02, Tiverton, RI; Erik G.
Rodriguez '03, Albany, NY; Matthew D. Sturtevant '02, Readfield, ME;
Ryan A. Stefuik '01, Westfield, NJ; Kelsey G. Burns '01, Middlebury, VT;
Richard F. Leavy II '02, Fairfield, CT; and Emily R. Sullivan '02, Weymouth, MA.
	The event, along with similar events held in other locations and
organized by Pallotta Team Works, was created "to enable people to make a
difference by empowering them to help others in need and ultimately change
the world." The net proceeds of funds raised will benefit the work of three
world-renowned AIDS scientists and their research teams, Dr. Irvin Chen of
the UCLA AIDS Institute; Dr. David Ho of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research
Center and Dr. Rafi Ahmed of the Emory Vaccine Center, as they work to
eradicate AIDS through the development of a vaccine.
	To prepare for the event, students are training and conducting
fund-raising on campus. For more information, contact O'Connor, at
