ADAM LANE JAZZ TRIO PERFORMING AT SLU

CANTON – The Adam Lane Jazz Trio will perform at St. Lawrence University
on Wednesday, February 23, in the Laurentian Room of the Student
Center, at 8 p.m. The performance, supported by the Birdsong Endowment,
is open to the public, free of charge.
Combining a variety of disparate influences, bassist and composer
Lane stretches the terms "jazz" and "chamber music" beyond convention.
His blend of music and performance art takes listeners on a
meticulously orchestrated joyride, with horns, strings, electronics,
spoken word and the occasional vacuum cleaner. Also in the trio are
multi-reed artist Vinny Golia and drummer Vijay Anderson. According
to Lane, "We play a free swing, hard bop, avant swing similar to
Mingus and Ellington on the Money Jungle record, but with a bit more
of a modern feel."

Fellow in Music Timothy Mangin at 315-229-5247.
