St. Lawrence Profs Edit Anthology About Hispanic Grandmothers
CANTON - Two St. Lawrence University language professors are the editors of a new anthology of remembrances of Hispanic grandmothers. Abuelas hispanas: desde la memoria y el recuerdo, published in May 2012 by Ediciones Torremozas in Madrid, is edited by Ilia Casanova-Marengo and Marina Llorente, both associate professors of modern languages and literatures who teach Spanish.
The book honors the figure of Hispanic grandmothers and explores through poems, short stories and essays the bonds between grandmothers and grandchildren. It also reflects on the importance of remembrance and memory.
Casanova-Marengo and Llorente gave a presenation on the volume in July at Casa de América in Madrid, with several of the book's contributors in attendance. Video of the presentation is available online.
