SLU WRITERS SERIES INCLUDES IHSAN ABDUL-RAHIIM

CANTON - Poet, fiction author and playwright Ihsan Abdul-Rahiim 
will read from his work in a presentation at St. Lawrence 
University on Thursday, February 6, as part of the St. Lawrence 
Writers Series and the Festival of the Arts. His appearance will 
be at 8:15 p.m. in Eben Holden; it is open to the public, free of 
charge.
	A graduate of Bennington College, the American Conservatory 
Theatre and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Abdul-Rahiim is 
the author of ibo landing, an offering of short stories (Cool Grove 
Press, 1998) and has been content director of the online magazine 
Voice of the Ghetto. He has been an instructor for, and chair of, 
the theatre department of Talent Unlimited, an arts program of the 
New York City Board of Education, and was the founder and a 
director of The Tribe Ensemble, a multi-ethnic repertory theatre 
company. He has been a member of the New York State Council on 
the Arts and was a New York State Creative Artists Public Service 
Program finalist in poetry; he has also won awards for his 
acting and directing.
