America's Middle East Policy Topic For SLU Lecture

CANTON - Aaron Miller, Woodrow Wilson Center public policy scholar, will give a talk titled "Arab Spring/Winter: Implications for America's Middle East Policy" on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Hepburn Hall, Room 218, at St. Lawrence University. The event, part of the University's Contemporary Issues Forum, is open to the public, free of charge.

Miller will address the recent transformations sweeping the Arab world, and how they carry major consequences for America's security, economic and political interests. What are they? How will the recent changes throughout the Arab world affect our country's ties with longstanding allies and adversaries, as well as the prospects for Arab-Israeli peacemaking?

Following his talk, Miller will sign copies of his book The Much Too Promised Land: America's Elusive Search for Arab-Israeli Peace.

For two decades, Miller served as an adviser to Republic and Democratic Secretaries of State, helping formulate U.S. policy on the Middle East and the Arab-Israeli peace process. He most recently held the position of Senior Adviser for Arab-Israeli negotiations. He also served as the Deputy Special Middle East Coordinator for Arab-Israeli negotiations, Senior Member of the State Department's Policy Planning Staff in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research and in the Office of the Historian.
