St. Lawrence University is the 45th "most wired" campus in the country, according to popular magazine Yahoo! Internet Life's annual ratings, published in the May issue.

The story states "It used to be that U.S. colleges and universities could attract the nation's best and brightest with a prestigious name or a winning football team. But that was then. This is now: Undergraduates are as interested in a college's Net resources as in its curriculum or social life. Schools are as boastful of powerful network infrastructures as of celebrity professors. And prospective students are as likely to take a college tour virtually as in person."

Schools were rated in a variety of categories, including services available on-line (applications, registration, library reserves), access to campus networks and available wiring and bandwidth.
