St. Lawrence was well represented at the recent 48th annual meeting of the New York State Sociological Association, held at SUNY Potsdam.

Heather Marsh '03, of Portland, Oregon, presented a cultural studies piece on cyborgs and what they represent in current society; May Tolley '99 presented research on the impact of deindustrialization on Youngstown, Ohio; and visiting instructor Traci Fordham-Hernandez gave a paper critiquing dominant discourses on American youth.

In addition, President Daniel Sullivan, professor of sociology, addressed the gathering at lunch, on the topic "The Future of Sociology in the 21st Century."
