Sharee Freeman '76 and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder

Trustee Sharee Freeman '76 recently received a Leroy Collins Preserver of the Vision Award from the United States Department of Justice for her commitment to conflict resolution; reduction of racial tensions; and restoration of good will in diverse communities. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was at the ceremony.

Freeman is director of the Office of Self-Governance, in the Department of the Interior, and a former director of the justice department's Community Relations Service. A member of the University's Board of Trustees since 2003, she earned her St. Lawrence degree in government and sociology and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Freeman has worked as a public servant for the federal government in various capacities since the early 1980's and has received numerous awards for her work.
