St. Lawrence has placed 16th in the final winter standings for the Sears
Directors' Cup, presented annually by the nation's athletic directors and
determined by the success of men's and women's team sports.
The Sears Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National
Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today. In
Division III, standings in women's and men's basketball, ice hockey, swimming
and indoor track and field, wrestling, fencing, rifle and skiing are
considered. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports --
nine for men and nine for women. Each national champion receives 100 points.
St. Lawrence ranked 16th out of the top 25 Division III institutions, with a total
of 301 points. The rankings were published in USA Today March 28. |
