Assistant Professor of Fine Arts Melissa Schulenberg is among the artists
whose work will be exhibited in the Roland Gibson Gallery at SUNY Potsdam,
presenting its 2005 Fourth Triennial North Country Regional Award Winners.
The month-long exhibition begins Friday, January 28, with an opening
reception at 7 p.m. in the Gibson Gallery Lobby in Brainerd Hall.
The featured artists are included by invitation only. The exhibition
showcases top award-winners from the annual North Country Regional Art
Shows. The regional show is considered one of the preeminent competitive
shows in the area, limited to artists who live within a 200-mile radius
of Potsdam.
The triennial shows have been organized to recognize talented regional
artists and encourage continued creativity by offering the top winners
a museum gallery exhibition. Additionally, the triennial show enables
North Country audiences and students to view these substantial bodies
of work.
Participating this year are Mark Huff, sculpture; Ginny Layne, digital
design; Barry Lobdell, photography; Rebecca MacKellar, fiber quilts;
Pamela McKinnon, watercolor; Schulenberg, printmaking; and Amy
Swartele, painting.
The event is free and open to the public. Questions may be directed to
the gallery at (315) 267-3290. The show closes on Friday, February 25.
