John Schelp '84 was recently named "Tar Heel Of The Week" by the
Raleigh, North Carolina, News & Observer for his activism in
helping to pursuade the City Council there to vote down a proposal that
would have reduced the distance between asphalt plants and homes to
750 feet, from the current 1,500 feet.
Schelp, a former Peace Corps volunteer, is a program analyst with
the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
