Burry Professor of Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics
Robin Lock is the winner of the 2007 Dexter Whittinghill Contributed Paper Award
from the Mathematical Association of America's Special Interest Group on
Statistics Education.
Lock's paper, titled "What is R2? Using Dynamic Graphs to Illustrate Ideas in
Regression," was selected as the best in the group's contributed paper
session, "Innovative Examples of Using Graphs in Statistics," at the 2007
Joint Mathematics Meetings (JMM). Lock will receive a plaque at the 2008 JMM
Statistics Education SIGMAA business meeting.
Each speaker was evaluated by the audience on contribution, organization,
handouts, visuals, verbal delivery and overall score for the presentation.
The winner is chosen based on the evaluation scores in the overall category.
