A graduate from the Class of 1994 bested more than 500 runners --
including a former St. Lawrence track and cross country teammate --
to win the Portsmouth Harbour Trail 5K road race in Maine on July 9.
Ethan Hemphill '94, of Freeport, Maine, won the race with a time
of 15 minutes, 26 seconds. Among the other 500 runners in the 10th
annual event was Richard Bolt '92, who came in second. Both Hemphill
and Bolt were on the Alpine ski, track and cross country teams while
students at St. Lawrence.
According to a story in the Portsmouth Herald newspaper, Hemphill
stopped off on a drive to upstate New York for a vacation in order
