The Center for International and Intercultural Studies recently held its annual photo contest, where student photographs taken during study-abroad experiences are showcased and shared. The first-place winners in each category, including the names of the photographers and the programs they participated in, are shown here.

Of this photo, Evans, of Essex, Vermont, says, "The first snow of the year; a little boy and his little snowman."

Welch, of Still River, Massachusetts, states, "This photograph was taken at the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, in December 2004."

"At 16,000 feet above sea level, my entire body was suffering from the extreme altitude of central Tibet," Ross, of Canton, New York, says. "After winding our way up a treacherous mountain pass in a speeding jeep, the view of the Yamdrok-tso Lake from the top of the pass allowed me to forget every insignificant issue in my life and just absorb the breathtaking view."

Ross says, "This little Tibetan boy -- one of the many children who would approach our jeep at resting points and ask for candy. He is eating a piece of chocolate a friend had given him. This is by far my favorite photograph taken in China -- his eyes haunt me to this day."

All of the prize-winning photos are on display in the Center for International and Intercultural Studies on campus.
