A story by Associate Professor of English Pedro Ponce is the winner of the 2011 Copper Nickel Fiction Contest. Copper Nickel is is a literary journal published by the students and faculty at the University of Colorado Denver. It publishes work by student authors and by professional authors, and selection is competitive.
The fiction contest was judged by Daniel Alarcon, author of Lost City Radio. Ponce won for a story titled "The Possession of Charles Ignatius De Leon," to be published in Copper Nickel 17 in the spring of 2012.
