Orientation activities for the Class of 2010 included an optional community service project, and about 100 members of the class chose to participate.

Coordinated by Orientation Leaders Elizabeth Burns '07, of Washington, IA, and Lora Wu '07, of Litchfield, CT, first-year students a number of organizations in the area, including Heritage Island, Canton Day Care, Habitat for Humanity, the Church and Community Workers Program, Birdsfoot Farm, Bennett Farm, Gracious Friends Animal Sanctuary and others.
