Students from St. Lawrence University presented their original research at a statewide sociology conference this fall.

Assistant Professor of Sociology Danielle Egan and four of her students attended the annual meeting of the New York State Sociological Association (NYSSA) in Buffalo in October, with the students presenting papers from their social theory class.

Brenda Papineau '02, Hogansburg, NY; Leah Krieger '03, Amesbury, MA; Melissa Wilson '03, Ogdensburg, NY; and Katherine Resto '02, Bronx, NY, were among the approximately 100 attendees at the conference.

NYSSA is a highly prestigious regional organization whose participants include numerous scholars and promising students from throughout New York State and the surrounding geographic area. The conference is designed for participants to present research and works-in-progress in a professional environment. In addition to presentations, a number of sociological topics were discussed at the event, including theory, methods, gender, criminology, economics, globalization, social evolution, race issues, pain and suffering, and teaching sociology.
