A member of the new cabinet in Kenya is a former adjunct
professor in St. Lawrence's program of study in that country.
Peter Anyang' Nyong'o has been named Minister of Planning and
National Development by President Mwai Kibaki. He represents a
rural constituency near Kisumu, on Lake Victoria. From 1977 to
1981, he was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi, and worked
as an adjunct in the St. Lawrence program, teaching government
courses. He has also been on the faculty of the University of
Mexico, the University of Addis Ababa, the Eastern and Southern
African Management Institute and the the African Academy of
Sciences in Nairobi.
The East African Standard quoted Nyong'o on his new
appointment: "I consider my new job a personal challenge but
I am ready to tackle it to the best of my ability," he said.
