A member of the new cabinet in Kenya is a former adjunct professor in St. Lawrence's program of study in that country.

Peter Anyang' Nyong'o has been named Minister of Planning and National Development by President Mwai Kibaki. He represents a rural constituency near Kisumu, on Lake Victoria. From 1977 to 1981, he was a lecturer at the University of Nairobi, and worked as an adjunct in the St. Lawrence program, teaching government courses. He has also been on the faculty of the University of Mexico, the University of Addis Ababa, the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute and the the African Academy of Sciences in Nairobi.

The East African Standard quoted Nyong'o on his new appointment: "I consider my new job a personal challenge but I am ready to tackle it to the best of my ability," he said.
