Hannah Miller '02, of Charlestown, N.H., will participate in an archeological "dig" at the site of the ancient city of Elestherna in Crete this summer and continue her study of Classical Greece for a year at Oxford University in England in the fall.

Miller is designing her own multi-field major at St. Lawrence, with an emphasis in the classics and Greek language. To gain a deeper background, she'll take two courses this summer at the University of Crete and participate in the "dig." She applied for and received funding for her summer study from a Tanner Fellowship, available to assist St. Lawrence students exploring unusual opportunities.

In the fall, she begins a year of study at Oxford, as a student at St. Hilda's College, Oxford's only college exclusively for women. Students from over 20 countries attend St. Hilda's College; Miller will be one of only 10 from the United States there in the fall.
