St. Lawrence University students, faculty, staff and alumni pitched in to "make a
difference" in communities near and far from campus recently, as participants in Make a
Difference Day.
On October 24 and 25, members of the St. Lawrence community joined with neighbors from
SUNY Canton and Canton High School, plus members of the Chamber of Commerce. Over 100 people
helped prepare 34 senior citizens' homes for winter and maintained playgrounds and recreational
areas in the Village of Canton.
Alumni events took place in Albany, New York (making dinner for residents
of the community's Ronald McDonald House); Dallas, Texas (assisting
with the Dallas Ramp Project, which has built more than 1,000 wheelchair
ramps for home-bound individuals); Washington, DC (making dinner for residents
of the community's Ronald McDonald House); and Rochester, New York
(volunteering at the Kirkhaven Nursing Home, with the organization RochesterCares)
over the weekend as well.
