A St. Lawrence senior has been awarded a prestigious scholarship for study at Cambridge University in England.
George J. ("Geo") Maher IV '01, of East Poland, Maine, has been awarded the Davies-Jackson Scholarship to study social and political sciences at St. John's College of Cambridge University. Maher will graduate in May with a degree in economics and government.
The Davies-Jackson Scholarship is a two-year course of study at Cambridge, leading to a British B.A. degree. It is awarded on a competitive basis, and applicants are "expected to show a top-grade academic record, demonstrate a flexible, inquiring and disciplined mind, and to have a clear and literate writing style." The award covers all room and board expenses, plus fees and travel to and from England for two academic years.
Maher is a 1997 graduate of Hebron Academy. He studied in Spain in 1999, through St. Lawrence's International Education Program, and is a member of the economics honorary society. |
