Leif Skodnick '02 has been named director of broadcasting and public relations for the
Johnstown Chiefs hockey team, the AA affiliate of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning.
Skodnick, a native of Princeton Junction, NJ, spent the 2005-06 season
with the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League, where he was a graduate
assistant in the public and community relations department. Prior to joining
the Sabres, he was a communications intern at the ECHL league office in
Princeton, NJ.
"We're very pleased to have Leif joining us here in Johnstown," said Chiefs' Vice
President of Business Operations Kevin McGeehan. "His depth of knowledge of
hockey and the ECHL is impressive, and he will be a great addition to our
office and our broadcast."
Skodnick earned his St. Lawrence degree in Canadian studies and history. While
an undergraduate, he worked on student publications, including The Stump and
The Hill News, and participated in the Thelomathesian Society, the
student government organization. His new responsibilities include broadcasting
all 72 of the Chiefs' regular season games and any games in the Kelly Cup
Playoffs, as well as handling the organizations' media, public and community
relations.
