Some 150 St. Lawrence students accepted the challenge to "Go Further" --
the theme of the annual leadership conference held on campus in January
of 2005.

Participants heard keynote speaker Laura Osteen, director of the Lead Center
at Florida State University, on "Grasping the Challenge: Leadership as a
Way of Life," and took part in sessions on time management, service learning,
collaboration, conflict resolution, goal-setting and creating a climate
of trust, among other topics.
St. Lawrence faculty and staff presented many of the sessions. The conference
was planned and organized by committee members Tim Deckman '05, Rochester, NY;
Bill Courtney '08, Glenmont, NY; Sarah Pensgen '05, Massena, NY; Barrett
Miles '07, Chatham, NJ; Melissa Glotzbecker '05, Ganesvoort, NY; Kathryn
Brooks '05, Bloomington, MN; Danielle Weaver '07, Jamestown, NY; Jason
Eisenhuth '06, South Newfane, VT; and Stacey Banfield-Hardaway '08, Bennington,
VT, with Leadership Academy Project Director Peg Cornwell '79 and Assistant
Director of Co-Curricular Education and Programming Marna Redding.
