Laurie Ross '06, a member of the University's women's ice hockey team, played on
Canada’s National Women’s Team this summer, but getting there involved a
series of trials, not all of them on the ice.
According to a story in The Ottawa Citizen newspaper on August 26,
Ross was required to report to evaluation camp on the same day as her last
final exam in May. She wound up being able to do both, and eventually made
the team, which played a three-game series against their "archrival," the
U.S. team. Ross, a native of Manotick, Ontario, scored the winning goal
for Ontario in double-overtime at the 2001 national under-18 challege final.
