Lauren Nuffort '06, a student at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN, is the recipient of the American Bar Association Section of Health Law's 7th Annual Law Student Writing Competition. Her winning selection will be recognized at the Emerging Issues in Health Law Conference in Orlando, Florida, February 18-21.

The 7th Annual ABA Health Law Student Writing Award is a writing competition open to any law student in an ABA-accredited law school. The Section chooses the winning selection based on the overall excellence of a substantive paper on any aspect of health law. In her winning submission, Nuffort addressed "The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008: Raising a Shield to Genetic Discrimination in Employment and Health Insurance." As a part of her award, Nuffort will travel to the Section's Emerging Issues in Healthcare Law Conference in Florida; and receive an honorarium. The award also includes publication in The Health Lawyer, the bi-monthly ABA magazine that provides informative articles that focus on a wide range of areas in the health law field and offers incisive analysis of key issues. Additionally, Nuffort's submission will be published The Student Lawyer, a publication from the ABA Law Student Division.,br>

Nuffort earned her St. Lawrence degree in economics and government, with a minor in mathematics. She was a member of the women's golf team; the honor societies in government, economics and mathematics; the student leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
