Participants in the Family Weekend 5K take off.
The Advocates Program and the Panhellenic Council held a 5K run/walk during
Family Weekend, September 28, resulting in a contribution of $2,500 to Susan
G. Komen for the Cure.
The event drew a large number of students, faculty, staff, family members and
participants from the region; funds were raised through registration fees. Organizer
Amanda Mereau, director of student activities and leadership, reports that many
families found the event a "great addition" to the weekend's activities.
Komen for the Cure is "the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cure." The event was held in conjunction with October as Breast Cancer
Awareness Month.
