Judith Van Kennen, administrative secretary in economics, was recently named Woman of the Year by the St. Lawrence County Chapter of New York State Women Inc. Van Kennen is also the pastor of Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ in Massena, NY.

Over 1,000 women and men in 60 local organizations throughout New York State belong to the organzation, which advocates for working women. Member Nola Martin, who belongs to the Emmanuel Church, nominated Van Kennen for the honor.

Van Kennan is a 2008 graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky and first went to Emmanuel in 2000 as an intern.
