A St. Lawrence student will present the results of research he conducted
for an honors thesis in geology at the joint meeting of the Geological
Society of America Northeastern Section and the Atlantic Geoscience
Society.
Joshua Taylor '03, of Otego, New York, will make the presentation at the
meeting, held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, March 27-29. "Origin and Subsequent
Modification of K-Feldspar Megacysts with the Gray's School Body of the
Hermon Gneiss, Adirondack Lowlands, New York," presented with Associate
Professor of Geology John Bursnall, examines the possibility of magmatic
crystallization, metasomatism and metamorphic recrystallization in the
rock.
Taylor was a 2002 Baker University Fellow, also conducting research in
geology with Bursnall. He plans graduate study in geology.
