John C. Larrance, production manager and lighting designer for the speech and theatre department at St. Lawrence University, received the 2004 Franky Award from Ogdensburg Command Performances, a community arts organization, in May. The award is given annually to a member of the community for their efforts in furthering the arts in the North Country.

Larrance has an associate's degree in technical illustration from Ferris State College, as well as a bachelor's degree in speech/theatre education and a master's degree in theatre arts from Central Michigan University. He has worked at St. Lawrence since 1978 and also assists a wide variety of community groups with technical support.

The Franky Award is named in honor of St. Lawrence University graduate J. Frank Schwartz '50, a founding member of the Ogdensburg group and long-time community arts advocate.
