John C. Larrance, production manager and lighting designer for
the speech and theatre department at St. Lawrence University, received the
2004 Franky Award from Ogdensburg Command Performances, a community
arts organization, in May. The award is given annually to a member of
the community for their efforts in furthering the arts in the North
Country.
Larrance has an associate's degree in technical illustration from
Ferris State College, as well as a bachelor's degree in speech/theatre education
and a master's degree in theatre arts from Central Michigan University. He has
worked at St. Lawrence since 1978 and also assists a wide variety of community
groups with technical support.
The Franky Award is named in honor of St. Lawrence University graduate
J. Frank Schwartz '50, a founding member of the Ogdensburg group and
long-time community arts advocate.
