Professor of Global Studies John Collins will give a presentation on Thursday, October 11, at the University of Vermont, titled "Palestine: Laboratory for the Future."
Sponsored by Students for Justice in Palestine, the presentation is at 7:30 p.m. in Room 108 of Lafayette Hall. Collins will discuss Palestine's ongoing settler-colonial occupation. "Colonized territories have long served as testing grounds for new forms of violence, social control, solidarity, and resistance that often have broader global implications," Collins says. "Palestine is no exception." Based on his new book Global Palestine, Collins will explore what may be learned about the future of settler-colonialism, permanent war, contemporary globalization and indigenous resistance movements by excavating Palestine's past and its struggle against occupation and colonialism.
