Munsil Professor of Government Joe Kling will give a talk at a UNESCO conference, "Community Organizing: Empowering the Citizens?," at the University of Lyons, France, March 14 through 16.
Kling's paper, titled "What Do We Talk About When We Talk About 'Community'?," is co-authored with Prudence Posner and is part of a panel discussion on March 15. Other panelists are from the Université de Nancy, France, and King's College University, UK.
Kling and Posner co-edited a volume of essays on community organizing, Dilemmas of Activism, published by Temple University Press in 1991; this presentation draws from that work.
