Jeana Ganskop '08, of Williamson, NY, recently received the Mildred Frick
Taylor Award from the Board of Wayne County Supervisors and Carmen Pascarella,
Town of Rose supervisor and chair of the Wayne County History and Education Committee.
Ganskop received the award for her written contribution to the Wayne County
Historical Arhives while serving as an intern volunteer during the summer of 2005.
Ganskop is a history major at St. Lawrence, and during her internship, indexed the
book Ever True, by Lisa Saunders, which chronicles the life of a Civil War
soldier from Wayne County, and his relationship with his wife, through their
correspondence. Ganskop also updated and reorganized the county record for the
Elmwood Cemetery and chronicled her own experiences and activities in the county
historian's office.
Wayne County Historian Peter Evans made the presentation to Ganskop at a meeting
of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors. The Mildred Frick Taylor Award was
established by a bequest from Taylor's estate, to recognize individuals who make
"significant contributions to the County Historical Archive." The award has not
been presented since 2002.
